Looking for a fun, safe, regular meet-up for parents, babies and toddlers? Join Tiny Diggers – our new group promoting sensory play for babies and toddlers every weekday (Monday to Friday) morning at DIG: An Archaeological Adventure, St Saviourgate in York city centre.
With soft play and many parent and baby groups still not operating, we’ve created two sessions designed exclusively for babies and toddlers – chance to play in a safe, tactile environment which uses textures found in archaeology to introduce touch-based play.
Sessions run at 9am for babies (those who have not yet learned to walk) and from 10.30 am -11.30 and 12 noon – 1 pm for mobile youngsters aged up to 4 years. We’re limiting numbers in each session so that we can keep to social distancing guidelines, and will be offering free coffee and biscuits for parents and carers to enjoy as they socialise.
The group will run on a four week cycle, with different themed content each week to introduce varied stimuli, from treasure hunts to messy play, created by our Early Years team to help develop fine motor skills and engage all the senses. Fun for your little one, and you, too!
The sessions cost £5 per child, booked in blocks of four sessions (£20).
We know how tricky it can be to get everything ready for a set time, so don’t worry if you are ever running a little late for the start of the session – you won’t feel as though you have missed out!
Tiny diggers is split in to two age ranges:
- Babies (pre-walking 0-2) 9am – 10am
- Toddlers (walking/2-4) 10.30am -11.30 and 12noon- 1pm
Tiny Diggers sessions will run from 12th April to 7th May and take place three times a day.
Please select the number of tickets for the age range you need (you only pay for the child, the accompanying adult is free and must stay with the child for the duration of the session).
You will then be asked to select the dates you would like to attend. A ticket is £20 for 4 sessions, but they do not necessarily need to be consecutive weeks. Please make sure you select the appropriate session time for the age range.
