With this in mind, you can find some exciting digital content on our Discover from Home page on the JORVIK Viking Centre site.

Social Distancing and Safety
We are working on new social distancing and safety policies to make sure future visits will be safe and enjoyable for all our visitors and staff, including restricting the number of people in the attraction, ensuring social distancing and extra hygiene precautions. You can read more about these new policies here.
Your visit around DIG is led by a real archaeologist, so all tours are timed. We would always advise pre-booking your places in advance, as we cannot guarantee any walk-in spaces on arrival.
Pre-booking means you and your family are guaranteed to join the fun!
Normally you can also call to book, but our phone lines are currently unavailable while we are temporarily closed.
Upon pre-booking, your ticket will automatically be upgraded to a ‘Fast-Track’ admission. This incurs an additional £1 on top of the initial booking fee (£2 total) entitling you to guaranteed entry on arrival at your designated time-slot and ensuring peace of mind when planning your visit. The additional charge is waived for customers selecting our special five attraction “Pastport” ticket where only the standard booking fee will apply.
Pre-booking your visit allows you to choose what time you visit (subject to availability) and permits you to jump any queue at the attraction.
Pre-Booking and refund policy
If you are not able to visit the attraction for your pre-booked slot we can re-book your visit for a more convenient time. We are not able to offer refunds if you cancel your visit.
For larger bags, we recommend using Yorbag
The left luggage service is located on High Petergate, near to York Minster, and costs from £3. Take your pre-booked ticket for Barley Hall to get 20% off the price. You can find out more on the Yorbag website.
