Visit DIG

good to go covid-19

We are re-opening on 11th July.

You can pre-book online for visits from 11th July onwards. Please note that all visits will be by pre-booking only.

Read our safety and social distancing information to find out about the policies that will be in place when we re-open, including restricting the number of people in the attraction, ensuring social distancing and extra hygiene precautions. Our new procedures have gained the Good to Go certification from Visit England, so that visitors can be assured that we have followed government and industry Covid-19 Guidelines.

We hope you and your family stay well during this difficult time, and we look forward to welcoming you back to DIG soon.

Discover from Home

We are owned by York Archaeological Trust, an educational charity with a mission of ‘Building Better Lives Through Heritage’; and so ensuring all of our audiences remain engaged with their past is one of our key aims. With this in mind, you can find some exciting digital content on our Discover from Home page on the JORVIK Viking Centre site.

Support Us

The coronavirus crisis is causing unpredictable and significant concerns for DIG, our sister attractions and York Archaeological Trust as a whole. Our staff and visitors’ safety is our top priority. However, making our attractions safe has incurred unexpected costs, and combined with the severe ticket income loss, our future plans are under threat.

We would be hugely grateful for your support helping us raise £30,000 to cover our unexpected costs, so we can more confidently continue to offer world-class visitor experiences and a range of charitable activities that benefit our community.
