Discover from Home
We are owned by York Archaeological Trust, an educational charity with a mission of ‘Building Better Lives Through Heritage’; and so ensuring all of our audiences remain engaged with their past is one of our key aims. With this in mind, you can find some exciting digital content on our Discover from Home page on the JORVIK Viking Centre site.
The coronavirus crisis is causing unpredictable and significant concerns for DIG, our sister attractions and York Archaeological Trust as a whole. We have reacted to this challenge by developing a brand-new virtual engagement programme – ‘Virtual Vikings’, that will deliver similar on-line experiences to school classes, which we want to launch during the autumn term.
To help us create this valuable new offer for school children across the UK who cannot now visit our attractions, we need to purchase the technical equipment and learning resources to deliver it. We would be hugely grateful for your support helping us raise £120,000 to cover the costs of developing and running this exciting and beneficial new project.
Read our safety and social distancing information to find out about our new policies, including restricting the number of people in the attraction, ensuring social distancing and extra hygiene precautions. Our new procedures have gained the Good to Go certification from Visit England, so that visitors can be assured that we have followed government and industry Covid-19 Guidelines.
Please note that from 8th August 2020, face coverings are required inside all of the JORVIK group attractions in line with government guidelines.
