DIG's Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence 2015

DIG is temporarily closed.

DIG is temporarily closed for the foreseeable future due to Government advice relating to minimising the risk of Covid-19 (Coronavirus).

See our Frequently Asked Questions for during this closure.

We have contacted as many people as possible regarding bookings until the end of June. Due to new restrictions on travel, our reservations team are no longer able to service our phone and email booking lines. If we had not reached you yet, you can change your booking online (if you set up an online account when you originally booked), with booking slots currently open again from 1st July (though this may change in line with government advice). If you haven’t got an online account, we will contact you when we are able to access our phone and email lines again.

Our apologies for any inconvenience, but we are sure you appreciate that following government guidance for the safety of our staff is our top priority. We look forward to welcoming you back to the JORVIK Group of Attractions as soon as possible, and hope that you and your family stay well during this difficult time.

We are owned by York Archaeological Trust, an educational charity with a mission of ‘Building Better Lives Through Heritage’; and so ensuring all of our audiences remain engaged with their past is one of our key aims. With this in mind, you can find some exciting digital content on our Discover from Home page on the JORVIK Viking Centre site, and we hope to add to this soon.

If you would like to show your support and offer a donation to York Archaeological Trust to help assist us during this difficult time it would be appreciated enormously. Please click the link below.

Pre-Booking

Your visit around DIG is led by a real archaeologist, so all tours are timed. We would always advise pre-booking your places in advance, as we cannot guarantee any walk-in spaces on arrival.

Pre-booking means you and your family are guaranteed to join the fun!

Book Now

Normally you can also call to book, but our phone lines are currently unavailable while we are temporarily closed.

Upon pre-booking, your ticket will automatically be upgraded to a ‘Fast-Track’ admission. This incurs an additional £1 on top of the initial booking fee (£2 total) entitling you to guaranteed entry on arrival at your designated time-slot and ensuring peace of mind when planning your visit. The additional charge is waived for customers selecting our special five attraction “Pastport” ticket where only the standard booking fee will apply.

Pre-booking your visit allows you to choose what time you visit (subject to availability) and permits you to jump any queue at the attraction.

Pre-Booking and refund policy

If you are not able to visit the attraction for your pre-booked slot we can re-book your visit for a more convenient time. We are not able to offer refunds if you cancel your visit.
