Archaeologist leading a guided tour

Discover Roman York through the city’s archaeology…

…our guided walk will take you around key sites excavated by York Archaeological Trust. Under the spotlight are the temples, granaries, bathhouses and bread ovens of York’s civilian settlement, and includes sneak peeks at some of the latest finds from the YAT fieldwork team.
The tour also includes admission to Micklegate Bar, where several Roman small finds will be on display. Pre-booking is essential.

As most of this event is outdoors and elements of the walk include steps and uneven surfaces, please wear sturdy footwear and outdoor clothing appropriate to the weather on the day. Unfortunately, due to the historic nature of the City Walls and Micklegate Bar, the Walking Tours are not wheelchair-accessible. Please contact access@yorkat.co.uk to discuss accessible alternatives to the Tours.

All participants are strongly advised to wear face coverings when inside Micklegate Bar and to maintain social distancing at all times. Numbers will be strictly limited.
