We know that you might be looking for more virtual options for your future lesson plans, so we’re working on expanding our existing digital learning programme. We’d be grateful if you could take this 1 minute survey – your answers will help us plan a programme with topics, formats and technology to suit you.
Bring archaeology into your classroom with one of our Loan Boxes! Our loan boxes contain real and replica artefacts that can be used to compliment studies of different time periods and the practice of archaeology to understand the past. Learn more about our Loan Boxes here.
The boxes cost £24 each for the first week, followed by £6 for each additional week up to a maximum of six weeks. Loan boxes have to be collected and returned to DIG: An Archaeological Adventure. Unfortunately we cannot send the boxes via post or courier.
If you would like to book or view a loan box please email our Reservations team at email@example.com or phone 01904 615505.
Shaking Hands with the Past
As part of ‘Finding the Future‘, York Archaeological Trust’s Resilience Project, we have produced a series of vodcasts entitled ‘Shaking Hands with the Past’ specifically for our school’s audience. Each of these presentations features one of our unique artefacts and explains their use, construction and history in easily understood terms and with the help of some friendly faces from the past! These vodcasts can be used by teachers, parents and pupils to help bring alive the topic of living in Viking or medieval times. We intend to create further series of similar presentations and include objects from different historical periods in the York collection.
Episode 1 – Viking Sock
Episode 2 – Viking Coin Die
Episode 3 – Viking Board Game
Episode 4 – Viking Instruments
Each of the second season’s presentations features one of our unique artefacts and explains their use, construction and history in easily understood terms and with the help of a friendly medieval resident! These vodcasts can be used by teachers, parents and pupils to help bring alive the topic of living in medieval York.
Episode 1 – Archer’s Bracer
Episode 2 – Ampullae
Episode 3 – Seal Matrices
Episode 4 – Medieval Mystery Object
